Search behavior is changing: users increasingly put their questions to an AI assistant, and those answers usually cite only a handful of sources. If your brand is not in that narrow set, you are effectively nonexistent to this channel's customers. Research shows two things clearly: targeted optimization can lift visibility in AI-generated answers by up to 40% (Princeton, KDD 2024), and brands recommended by a leading AI assistant are 2.5 times more likely to receive a site visit within seven days (Similarweb). AI-driven traffic is still a small share today — but a share that grew roughly tenfold in nineteen months and rewards early movers.
What are GEO and AEO?
Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the work of getting your brand cited as a source in generative AI answers. Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) targets the systems that answer questions directly — voice assistants, answer boxes, AI summaries — so that your brand is the answer itself. Together they begin where classic SEO ends: not appearing in rankings, but being named in the answer.
What does the audit cover?
- Technical foundation scan: AI crawlers' access to your site, robots configuration, structured data (schema.org), and llms.txt status.
- Entity consistency: machine-readable consistency of name, address, and identity details across official records, your site, and your profiles.
- Visibility panel: a 20-question panel prepared for your brand and category, run across AI engines — who gets named, and where you stand.
- Competitor citation analysis: which sources feed the competitors named in answers, and a prioritized roadmap to close the gap.
Process and deliverables
In a short kickoff call we define your category queries together. The panel run and the technical scan are completed. You receive two things: a findings report showing where you stand today, and a roadmap ordered by priority. You can carry out the implementation with your own team, or we take it on with a monthly improvement model.
We applied this methodology to our own brand before selling it to our first client: the technical foundation, content blocks, and entity alignment are all live on verixion.com.
